(Reuters) – A Hilton hotel in Portland, Oregon fired a safety guard and a supervisor after a black guest captured them on video calling the police to report him for trespassing after he had been chatting with his mom by cellphone within the foyer, the hotel stated on Saturday.

Police responded to the decision and escorted Jermaine Massey out of the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, the place he was staying, on Dec. 22, a regulation firm representing Massey stated in a press release. His attorneys stated Massey was doing nothing greater than “calling his mother while black.”

“No one should be treated this way, and I hope this serves as a catalyst for necessary changes that address the systemic nature of discrimination of all forms,” Wheeler stated on Twitter.

Massey’s lawyer, Greg Kafoury, stated Massey plans to sue the Hilton chain over his eviction from the hotel.
